I've decided to get off the pot. The B2400 seems to be the ideal size for my work and the dealer quoted $17,150 for the B2400HSD with the bi-steer option. It comes with the Kubota Loader and a Bevco 60", 3-pt rear discharge grooming mower. Is it time to make a deal or is there still room to dicker?. You guys seem to know what you are talking about and your advice would be greatly appreciated. The only alternative would be to go back down to the JD4100 and start the process all over again with the dealer. Thanks in advance for your help.

The question isn't money. The price is okay. I bought my 2400 last fall. I have dug out seven 100 year old cedar stumps and graded 7/8 acre for a new residence. I think I've saved more than I have spent. The question you need to ask yourself is will I use it enough to pay for it. I have and I payed less than the J.D. dealer wanted for the green machine. ....

Thanks for the info. It's been a great help. Sent in the order today to the dealer. I think the question is not whether there is enough work for the machine to pay for itself, it's more like "will I live long enough to get it all done".Thanks for your input.Did you use a backhoe to get those stumps out? ....

I used the back hoe to remove the dirt around the stumps down to about five feet. On a couple of them this was a 15 foot diameter circle. The back hoe would rip out the wrist sized roots, for the the larger ones I used a pressure washer to remove the dirt in and around the roots and then used a chainsaw to cut through them. Once they were loose I pushed them into a pile and burned them. Total elapsed time about nine months (weekends only), but hey what's a guy gonna do with all his spare time anyway? ....
